As women around the world climb the corporate ladder, there are many professional organizations hosting educational and networking events. These types of meetings are excellent opportunities to socialize in a professional environment, exchange business cards and share helpful tips.
Business networking is important for all of us, as its a great way to keep abreast of industry trends, make contacts that might be useful down the road, and its always nice to meet new people anyway.
As a corporate business event photographer in NYC, I’m always inspired by the wonderful brilliant women that speak and attend these special events.
Fun Evening as a NYC Birthday Party Event Photographer

Who doesn’t love a birthday party?! From the time we’re small kids wearing birthday hats at our neighbor’s birthday parties, we love getting together and celebrating happy times…
I was honored to have covered a very special evening in NY City when friends and family gathered to celebrate actor Paul Sorvino’s birthday, which coincided with the 25th anniversary of his film “Goodfellas”. The birthday cake was decorated with movie memorabilia including cigars and wads of cash.
Mr. Sorvino’s dear friend, Governor Andrew Cuomo, raised his glass and toasted Mr. Sorvino’s wonderfulness and vast talents, after which guests were treated to a gorgeous operatic performance by the guest of honor.

nyc executive portrait photographer shot corporate headshot photos in ny city
As NY City real estate continues to expand and grow into the sky, one thing I always enjoy thinking about is that behind every window in every building old or new… there are people living or working. There must be many millions of windows in NYC buildings, maybe even a billion! And the millions of people behind these windows have their own unique view of our wonderful city.
So when I am on assignment as a professional photographer, whether it be as a portrait photographer or as a meeting or event photographer, I always enjoying seeing the location’s view of the New York City skyline, and trying to incorporate these views into the photos.
This business portrait was taken high atop Hearst’s beautiful and amazing building on West 57th Street. The views northward of Central Park served as a perfect background for this magazine assignment. While it was a bit tricky to light the room and not get reflections on the glass, it served as a perfect setting for this executive’s photo, and I was very grateful for his hospitality and kindness throughout the shoot.

NYC school photographer does NY City Graduation photos
The daffodils have bloomed, perfect little white flowers have magically appeared on the city trees and love is back in the air. And with the arrival spring, NY City schools are already planning graduation ceremonies for this coming June.
Being a professional photographer in NYC has included many photojournalistic photography assignments where I cover graduation ceremonies. Its always an honor and privilege to cover graduations, whether it be for a well-known medical school or various high schools throughout the city.
And its always particularly inspiring to hear how much students have accomplished in the years leading up to their graduation, and all the wonderful things each student has done in the time leading up to graduation. I always leave these events very touched by how wonderful teachers are and what great jobs they do, and how much promise there is in the younger generations coming of age in this world.

professional photographer nyc shot corporate special event
Being a special event photographer in NY City is never boring… its usually quite fun! Corporate event planners create interesting and entertaining programming that their guests will enjoy, providing great material for photojournalistic photos and social media buzz.
This photo was taken for an international financial firm that engages its guests with the best chess players in the world. In this photo, Magnus Carlson and Gary Kasparov enjoyed a challenging but enjoyable game of chess. What made this match even more special is that the guests actually coached each grandmaster throughout the game.
After the event which was jam-packed, the grandmasters signed chessboards and gave autographs to everyone… while at the same time, reviewing the match’s strategic moves with each other. This NY City professional photographer was left wishing she had learned to play chess, but its never too late!
Sometimes The Best Business Portrait is a Candid One
Filed Under NYC Corporate Portrait Photographer

Business portraits can be done in a number of creative ways, if a standard headshot seems too traditional for you. Its fun and easy to get more creative, by doing a journalistic executive portrait. This approach involves photographing the subject while he or she is actually working and taking meetings, like the shot in this post.
Shooting editorial-style portraits is a great way to go for many reasons. First, you’ll have a wide variety of moments to choose from. Second, you’ll have a selection of stock photos that you can use in the future for brochures and advertising campaigns. And third, you can relax and be yourself if you’re not so comfortable posing in front of the camera.
To make this type of corporate photo work best, its important to pose the shot in a simple corporate environment that will convey confidence, good energy and professionalism.

NYC Bar Mitzvah Photographer shot party candids
Bar mitzvah photography has changed so much in the past twenty years due to better digital cameras, and the newer technology permits us to get more spontaneous and fun candid shots than ever. Digital cameras are so sensitive that they allow us to shoot in very low light and capture the lighting and ambience of the decor in the most natural of ways.
To do a thorough job, shooting bat mitzvah party photography includes many components, beginning with family portraits and sometimes the religious service. Once the reception starts, we cover the decor, cocktail hour coverage of the kids and the adults, then the speeches, toasts, video montage, dancing and kids having fun. Sometimes we’ll do some more family shots that are looser and more fun than the religious portraits, and gather specific groups of VIP friends together as well.
Having shot hundreds of bar, bat and b’nai mitzvahs in my career, I can honestly say that I love it. What could be more enjoyable than being in the midst of a happy and joyous occasion than this!? We photographers have a great job! See more of our bar mitzvah photography here: www.teribloom.com/barmitzvahs
Thoughts of a NY City Alumni Event Photographer
Filed Under Corporate Event Photos, NYC NY City Event Photographer, School Photography
Its said that over 37% of New Yorkers were born in another country, making NY City one of the world’s major melting pots. Naturally, the top graduates flock to NYC from the best universities in the world, seeking employment and bright beginnings.
Since there are so many international grads in New York, many college and university alumni events are held here. As a NYC alumni event photographer, we capture photos of old friends mingling, and shoot the speeches and formal presentations. Our photos are used for the university’s PR, alumni publications and go on the website.
These assignments are always fun and enjoyable to cover, and it makes me sentimental to feel so much good energy in one room!
We shot this non-profit event at the NY City Edison Ballroom, a historic space in the New York Theater District. It was a great event, honoring Mary Dinkins and attended by hundreds of guests.
Floral arrangements were by designer Felix Perea, and the magenta and yellow spot lights gave the room a warm and photogenic feel.
The event started with a cocktail hour upstairs, then Mayor De Blasio spoke and presented Mayor Dinkins with the award honoring his political and lifetime achievements.
Its said that first impressions are lasting, so it makes sense to have your Linked-In or business headshot be the best it can be. Consider hiring a professional portrait photographer to help you get a nice flattering portrait, so you can put your best foot forward.
As a professional portrait photographer in NY City, I feel strongly that its always better to smile than be too serious for the simple reason that unconsciously we react positively to a smiling face. Also recommended is to wear a dark jacket because visually it contains the image and focuses the viewer’s attention on your face.
And third, decide if you want your headshot to be done in a studio with lighting and a backdrop, or if you’d like your business portrait to be taken outdoors for a more casual look. Both styles of executive headshots work well, its just a matter of which style suits you.
