It was STILL Halloween — yet the Gap and the Container Store had already transformed to Holiday & Christmas signage. A reminder that while its still late autumn, its not too soon to make plans for your corporate holiday party and hire a professional event photographer.
One of the most fun and lively corporate holiday parties was hosted by a tech company here in NY City, with many of the employees competing to win “the tackiest Christmas sweater” of the evening. It was a great evening with lots of holiday cheer.

nyc headshot photographer shot business portrait for website photography
More and more in my job as an executive portrait photographer in NYC, I’ve getting requests for more casual headshots that reveal an executive’s personality, yet remain polished and professional in presentation. While business headshots can be done a variety of ways, I’ve been enjoying taking photos like this one where we have some fun during the shoot.
Of course many law, financial and consulting firms still prefer traditional headshots which is understandable. In this case the photos are presented in vertical format with backgrounds that tie in with the firm’s website design.

The coolest college class I ever took involved renovating an old house. Our class bought, renovated and sold the property and a family moved right in. Being a carpenter and reading Thoreau & Walden’s essays on self reliance was great fun!
So when I got this corporate event photography job, I was very excited to be a photojournalist & cover the action. The executive team built a house via Habitats for Humanity. It was a very hard day’s work and they got so much done in a short time.
This assignment reminded me how fun a NYC professional photographer’s job can be… and what nice people there are in the world doing good work.

Rockefeller Center is one of the coolest places in NY City and what a place to have a corporate event! This photo is an overview of a party thrown by a non-profit to raise money for medical research and was attended by over 800 people.
For anyone who’s not been to Rockefeller Center, in the winter this space transforms to an ice skating rink while in the summer its often used for special events. Its one of the largest and coolest venues in the city for large parties like this one.
Also if you’re visiting New York City around Christmas, be sure to stop here and see the beautiful Christmas tree, you’ll never forget how majestic it looks!

More and more, clients are having me shoot headshots for Linked-In and social media. While a flattering and updated corporate portrait is so important for everyone, its even more so for social media sites.
At a recent webinar on Linked-In, I learned how easy it is to find new professional contacts. Linked-In has filtering tools to refine your searches, and you can easily find friends of friends who can help you with your job search, mentoring opportunities or peer networking.
But as the old saying goes, you can never make a second first impression. Which is why its so important to have a NYC professional photographer take updated photos of your professional staff so everyone has a flattering professional headshot portrait.
Posing with friends in front of the “step and repeat” banner has become a staple of event photography in NY City. Guests love posing with their friends and seeing the shots on social media.
At this party, the client had an assortment of fun props that were used during these portrait photos. My favorite one is shown in this photo, using a large frame with an opening for the guest’s faces.
“Step & Repeat” photos are always a highlight in corporate event or non-profit gala photography, and I love the idea of using props to make it an even more fun experience.
